From the nahuatl acelotl, which means jaguar, the ocelote is similar to a domestic cat, with a coat similar to that of a jaguar but with smaller dimensions. The ocelote is distributed in almost all of the American continent: it can be found from the southern United States to northern Argentina. In Mėxico it covers practically the entire territory, except the center of the country and the Baja California peninsula.
Legend has it that when the gods created animals, they gave the ocelote immaculate skin, the color of the sun and soft as cotton. Being a very calm animal, he did not mess with other animals and spent his days admiring the sky.
The ocelote had great admiration for Meztli, the moon, and it could even be said that he was in love with her. One day a new star appeared in the sky with a great tail of fire. The animal was surprised by the star, but Citlalpol, the morning star, advised him not to do anything, since he was passing through and would soon leave. The ocelote ignored it and yelled at the star "Get out of here! In this sky there is only room for one queen and that is my beloved Meztli!". The star, which was actually a comet, forcefully threw some stones and fire from its tail.
The ocelote did not have time to run and some of the incandescent stones crashed against his skin, causing some burns. Since then, the ocelote no longer have their precious golden skin, but a skin dotted with dark spots that remind us of the need to receive those who come from outside with respect.

Materials: The leather used in this collection are treated with 100% vegetable materials. This means that different natural products are used in its tanning process instead of using chemicals that are harmful to the environment. These natural products are usually branches of trees and plants, such as chestnut and tara, sticks, roots and nuts, which are powdered and used to tan leather. The anilines used to color your bag, like the waxes that create the two-tone effect, are of plant origin. For this reason, any irregularity that is noticed in the skin is the effect of the natural process. As a suggestion, do not expose your bag to the sun for a long time as some oxidation could be noticed in the color, as happens with fruit.
Care: Carlota pieces are made with high-quality materials, and therefore should be treated with care, and protected against the elements. Due to the delicate nature of the materials, daily use can cause scratches and scuff marks on the surface, so we recommend you treat it with care. The leather is submitted to an important natural dye process, and the suede lining is pigmented with natural anilines, so we recommend that you be careful with any light-colored items that may come into contact with it.
If soiled, carefully clean the surface area using water and soft detergents. To keep your leather products in optimum condition, clean with a soft dry cloth, or, if necessary have them professionally cleaned.
