ABOUT THE BRAND
Kwara was born from a need, not an idea.
Its founder, Andrés, grew up in Michoacán, wearing huaraches at home with the streets of his hometown as his backdrop. But the discomfort of traditional pairs meant they lived more in memory than in daily life. Years later, searching for a way back to his roots, he discovered that his great-grandfather had been a huarache maker — a family thread nearly lost to tragedy. Picking it back up became something larger than a personal project.
In his words: "I realized that if I didn't do it, no one else would. It wasn't just for me. It was for my grandfather, for my great-grandfather — and for everyone who deserves to walk with pride."
Every pair of Kwara is handmade in Michoacán by more than 100 artisans. Lead-free leather. Recycled fabrics. More than 30 processes refined across generations. The result is footwear built to be worn, not preserved — comfortable enough for everyday life, rooted enough to carry a lineage. Kwara stands for craft that honors where it came from, and for makers expanding thoughtfully without losing their footing. In a market crowded with shortcuts, the brand is a reminder that heritage and modern design aren't at odds — they're stronger together.
Today, Kwara is growing — online, through marketplaces, and in collaborations — while remaining firmly planted in the land where it began. Because, as Andrés puts it, there is no future without memory.
"Our steps hold memory. And that is what makes us walk differently."

Customer Reviews
Overall rating: 4.7 / 5 from 22 reviews.
Love these, but they were too small. I’m regularly a size 8 to 8 1/2. I easily exchanged them for a bigger size. It was easy through their website. The huarches were very well made and had a cushion insole. I have bought some decent ones from other small businesses via Etsy, but these are sturdy and better made.
So Beautiful! In love with my suede huaraches. My only issue, I’m between sizes so I sized up and now a bit big. They slip in the heel but, I’ll add some heel pads to hopefully add some grip. 😉
I originally bought a pair in a size 8, since I am in between sizes 7.5 - 8. The size 8 ended up being too big on me. I exchanged them for a size 7 and they fit great. Granted they are snug up top but I know that with wear the leather will losen up a bit. The dark brown on these huaraches is goreous, I look forward to purchasing more in the future! I have my eye on the rose gold ones as well.
Absolutely love my huaraches! I’m usually a 6.5/7, and originally received the 7 but it was too large. The 6 was out of stock but as soon as it came back I ordered right away. They are so comfortable and gorgeous! Cannot recommend them enough.
I really like this brand. I own the brown Andy huaraches and the black suede huaraches sandals (which I prefer). The sole of the shoe is high quality compared to the other huaraches I own which I bought from flea markets and such. I own the Andy huaraches in a 5 and black sandals in a 6 (I am a 5.5 for reference). I would suggest a 5 if you don’t mind breaking them in as they can appear a little long on the feet. The 6 leaves for a little wiggle room in my opinion.
These are my second pair of Kwara, the first pair are the green suade. I knew the leather ones were going to be tight since I have a wide foot and have always had trouble finding leather huaraches. These are the first pair that my foot was able to fit into it (tight, but they fit). Not even in my little ranchito have I been able to find a pair. Of course I have to go the extra step to mold them so I stuff socks and wear them around the house with socks on. After some time they mold perfectly without me wearing socks. For my wide foot girls, I 100% recommend them.
These are my go to shoes for this fall. They are super comfortable and go with so many outfits. Here I wore them to work with my wide leg pants. I want them in more colors now! (:
As a wide-foot girlie, I have always struggled to find huaraches that fit my width, even in Mexico. When I saw this color, I immediately fell in love and decided to take the risk. I am a true 9.5 in sneakers and a 10 in heels. I decided to order the 10. They did fit a little snug, but I wore them around the house with a Nike sock on, since I knew the leather would eventually stretch out. They fit amazing and are so comfortable. I recently took them on a hike to Peyto Lake in Banff and had no issues. I plan on making another purchase:)
I LOVE my shoes! The color is a beautiful shade of purple, they're comfortable to wear, and they don't make my feet sweaty like a lot of other shoes do. Would buy again!
These are such high-quality huaraches, exactly what I wanted. The sole is thick, unlike all the ones I've bought in Mexico, so I know they're going to last me years. The straps are also very thick and the right amount of softness. The color is a deep brown, exactly like the picture. Very versatile. I'm so happy with these and already eyeing buying an additional color.
I’ve been looking for the perfect pair of huaraches for ages and I finally found them! The craftsmanship is unbelievable, they’re incredibly comfortable, and they’re true to size. I’d highly recommend a pair of Kwara huaraches, and I was so happy to find them through a shop like Cadena Collective! I checked out the rest of the Cadena Collective website and I will definitely be a repeat customer. Thank you so much! 🙏🌱
As a wide foot girly I was really nervous they would not fit. Eerytime I have tried to buy a pair in Mexico they never fit, even if i went a size up. I am a 9.5 and ordered the 9, I figured since its leather they would eventually stretch. Ive been wearing them around the house and took them out once and had no issues:)
They look exactly like the photos online but the only reason I'm not rating it five stars is because the left shoe is slightly bigger. Not a crazy difference but enough to notice it while walking. The right side fits perfectly but my left side, it just feels a bit loose. I would still most likely buy other colors.
These shoes are beautiful and well made but they run too big. I'm usually a size 7.5/8 and ordered a size 7 and my feet were slipping off when I walked. I own other pairs of huaraches in a size 7 (24 in Mexico) so I was really surprised to see they didn't fit. Now I have to return these and wait for the smaller sizes to be restocked.
