At the heart of this design is the homage to the crops—corn, beans, pumpkins, chili, cotton, cocoa, and tomatoes. These crops sustained the Mexica, with corn holding particular significance. The golden hue of corn is reflected in the vibrant yellow tones of the dress, symbolizing abundance and prosperity. Cocoa pods, with their rich colors and flavors, also find representation in the design, paying tribute to the Mexica's appreciation for this precious commodity. The innovative agricultural technique of chinampas, utilized by the Mexica to cultivate plants even in scarce rainfall conditions, is a central theme in the design. The lush vegetation of chinampas, featuring flowers like geranium, petunia, cempoalxóchitl, and poinsettia, is vividly captured in the intricate patterns of the dress.
Additionally, the design incorporates Mexica symbols representing the cycles of rain, flowers, animal reproduction, and hunting, reflecting the interconnectedness of nature and culture in their society. The Mexica tradition of weaving branches to create baskets and collect harvests is celebrated in our design, adding texture and depth to the garment. Their mastery of water management is also highlighted in the dress, including the creation of rivers and the utilization of underground water settlements to sustain their vast population. These elements are intricately woven into the fabric of the design, showcasing the holistic approach to life embraced by the Mexica civilization.
Behind the creation of the Cosecha Amarilla Dress lies a meticulous process, involving thorough research for inspiration and meticulous digital design to bring each component to life in vibrant color and detail. A beautiful dress as it is meaningful--this is a perfect dress for any special occasion!
Sublimation
In the creation of the dress, Nayibi employed the innovative textile sublimation technique, a process that infuses vibrant colors and intricate designs onto fabric with remarkable precision and durability. The sublimation process begins with the printing of the desired image onto special absorbent paper using a precision plotter. This step is crucial in capturing the intricate details and vivid colors of our designs with utmost accuracy.
Once the image is transferred onto the paper, it is meticulously ironed onto the garment using heat and pressure. This heat activates the sublimation ink, causing it to transform from a solid into a gas without passing through the liquid state. As a result, the ink particles permeate the polyester fibers, becoming an integral part of the fabric itself.
The benefits of sublimation printing are manifold, making it a preferred choice for creating high-quality garments:
With the sublimation technique, beautiful designs are not only achieved but also garments that stand the test of time, embodying the perfect fusion of artistry and durability.
