Handcrafted in Michoacán, Mexico, the Tarasco is a handwoven leather shoe that combines traditional artisanal techniques with everyday wearability. Each pair is made from high-quality lead-free leather, intricately braided by hand using a traditional Michoacán weaving technique to create a breathable, flexible upper with a leather tie detail. The construction molds and conforms to the foot over time, so the fit only gets better with wear.

Breathable, durable, and designed to age beautifully, the Tarasco pairs easily with denim, linen, or tailored trousers. Because each pair is handmade, small variations in weave and color are natural — a mark of authenticity, not a flaw.

ABOUT THE BRAND

Kwara was born from a need, not an idea.

Its founder, Andrés, grew up in Michoacán, wearing huaraches at home with the streets of his hometown as his backdrop. But the discomfort of traditional pairs meant they lived more in memory than in daily life. Years later, searching for a way back to his roots, he discovered that his great-grandfather had been a huarache maker — a family thread nearly lost to tragedy. Picking it back up became something larger than a personal project.

In his words: "I realized that if I didn't do it, no one else would. It wasn't just for me. It was for my grandfather, for my great-grandfather — and for everyone who deserves to walk with pride."

Every pair of Kwara is handmade in Michoacán by more than 100 artisans. Lead-free leather. Recycled fabrics. More than 30 processes refined across generations. The result is footwear built to be worn, not preserved — comfortable enough for everyday life, rooted enough to carry a lineage. Kwara stands for craft that honors where it came from, and for makers expanding thoughtfully without losing their footing. In a market crowded with shortcuts, the brand is a reminder that heritage and modern design aren't at odds — they're stronger together.

Today, Kwara is growing — online, through marketplaces, and in collaborations — while remaining firmly planted in the land where it began. Because, as Andrés puts it, there is no future without memory.

I love this a lot I am so glad hauraches shoes are bringing back in style I have worn them back in late 80's and 90's when I was kid. Green is definitely my favorite color I had hard time trying to find olive or army green Huaraches in shopping apps and sites when I found your site I needed to get me those and I been wearing them is comfortable and cushions feels like platform thanks you for card I can only speak little Spanish have bless day and I will be looking at Cadena stuff plus I am free spirit woman

These huaraches are beautiful and the leather is so soft! I thought they would feel stiff but they are easy to slip on and feel comfortable right out of the box. The toe box is a little narrower than I hoped but not bad at all.
